ONE THING THAT DEFINITELY WAS "NOT" ON FIRE LAST NIGHT WERE KVUE'S NUMBERS.
AGAINST CHOPPER 36 - LIVESTRIKE - AND JIM SPENCER - KVUE'S GROUND VIDEO PALED IN COMPARISON.
QUITE FRANKLY, YOUR MIGHTY NEWSCOMMANDER ENJOYED WATCHING KEYE LAST NIGHT MORE THAN KVUE. AT LEAST UNCLE FRED HAS SOME PERSONALITY - MUCH MORE THAN KVUE'S NEW, WEAK, ANCHOR.
THE WRITING'S ON THE WALL. WEAK ABC PROGRAMMING. NEW ANCHORS. KEYE SHALL RISE OVER KVUE IN NOV "RAY TINGS". HERE COMES RONNIE!

sure KXAN had CHOPPER 36 LIVE pixs DURING the fire in the morning BUT still came in 3rd place 5-6am and just edged out FOX for 2nd place 6-7am.
KVUE cleaned 36's clock for the first quarter hour at 6pm in the head-to-head fire coverage segments of the newscasts. (though admittedly there was a 2nd 1/4hour issue for KVUE)
KXAN fared better in the 1st 1/4 hour at 10PM, but KVUE won the entire half-hour.
The Chopper wasn't make or break for KXAN. Sure the pix were nice, but THIS fire was so BIG and spectacular, the pictures from the ground and perspective from across the lake were impressive on their own. Plus both KVUE and KEYE got some helicopter shots that really showed the damsge after the fire was out and the sun was up.
IF you like watch'n Fred so much, you best get used to wak'n up early when he goes to mornings to make way for Ron.
