In Reply To: I dont mean to be discouraging..but how long have you been looking for a reporter job? Usually..if youve got the goods...you will be getting bites and a job within 3-5 months of looking for a reporter job. If you dont get any strong bites within the first few months of looking...it probably isnt going to happen, and I would go with the AP job. Especially during the summer...youve got all the college grads coming out..looking for their first onair jobs...so the competition is great. Ive known a few people from college, who spent a year or more, looking for an onair job..and I felt so bad... because I knew it just wasnt going to happen for them...and they should move on.
Message: Sounds like the new job would be more appealing than where you're at now, but take it (If indeed they offer) only if you can handle that it means the AP confines alone. And be careful to NOT say you really wanna report, because they're looking for an AP, somebody who is enthusiastic about filling that role. Once you get in, you can work for the job you want, or continue your job search. Good luck.
