Saw a story on one of the Phoenix stations last week regarding "illegal aliens." Supporters of people making a run for the border were called "immigration advocates." Don't recall hearing "illegal" in the story, though I could be wrong.
Someone wrote about not altering soundbites, that it's not the reporter's job to "clean it up." On Groundhog Day 2004, the guy reading the somewhat goofy proclamation kept butchering his lines. It was really bad. I don't know if he was drunk, nervous, tired or a little of each, but it took him about 40 seconds to get through what would've been a nice 15-20 second bite. I asked the EP if I should clean it up, since we're talking Groundhog Day here, and no need to make the guy look bad, right? Answer? No freakin' way. |
