Give me a second, though. I'm still trying to recover from that can of whoopxss KXAN put on KVUE with this Oasis Fire. Their helicopter owns breaking news in this market, and we're all here on the ground spinning our wheels like fools.
But hey, we got some home video... from... the ground.(LAME)
Anyway, Byron's cookout is a new promotional celebration over at 42 on their growing numbers. During each newscast, Byron cooks a new piece of chicken for Fred. Each time Fred eats the chicken, the numbers get closer to KVUE.
And as far as the management changes, I hear Belo is tightening the belt on us... again. Lay-offs a coming. |

Wow..talk about a blast from the past-no pun intended. I opened the Oasis as its first bar manager. I was 22 at the time...it had one bar..the one in the original structure. We were slammed from the day we opened that June. By July 4th, crowds waited an hour for a table (and an hour and a half for their food once they ordered). Owners -Beau Theriot at the time-decided to literally throw five or six decks together so we could have a banner Labor Day crowd. To make a long story short...some little kid took a tumble under one of the rails and fell about 8 feet to the ground below one of the decks. As I picked up the kid I noticed the tip of the deck was secured with 2x6;s NAILED to a tree! No kidding! Sorry to hear about the fire....remembering the good times with the crew that first year takes me back.
