Guy at my old station did it all the time. I'm sure others across the country are doing the same thing -- especially if they never book the authors for interviews.
I'm sure it's more than just producers, too. Probably a few anchors are making some extra bucks since they're given the books/CDs to look over before interviews. |

if you're going to be shady, at least do something that brings in a little more money, no?
