In Reply To: i have been spending a few too many minutes focusing on one person instead of dealing with my daily show. first, i do not make the ultimate decisions. I cannot comment about your photog meeting (i don't recall being there) other than to say managers are not perfect. if it takes higher managers to get the job done, be thankful that the issue is being addressed.. laughing and shaking your heads afterwards doesn't sound like someone who is trying to help. Sounds like management did address the issues. I also find it intersting that you are focused on events years ago. Let me ask, is the photog situation at the station good? do you have the best equipment? do you take your cars home? Is safety taken seriously? are there un-safe situations that are not being addressed? we have done what we can to address issues when they are given to us. but we are not mind readers and we dont (with this exception) spend our days reading and re-reading the watercooler. Did you really expect me or anyone else to take you seriously when you stated above that you have told us time and again for the past 5 years on this board what we are doing wrong? like we are somehow doing searches waiting for your post? why not go in to the news directors office and have a frank talk. Has there ever been anyone who was retaliated for doing that? I know of no one and I see a lot of people who are in strick's office. You may feel you are being attacked becasue you give criticism with no specifics. THe specifics you give are incorrect or years old. the Schurtz issue is a fine example. You are right, he saves our butt. THat's also what he is hired to do and he's good at it. Yes, i am sure he feels disrespected. from managers, reporters AND PHOTOGS. At some point we all feel disrespected. I also see him addressing his concerns from time to time in DS' office. But you never responded to what I brought up.. how you are dead wrong about the retaliation and schedule changes. AS for the eng safety course. what concerns are you referring to that were addressed through an outsider? I don't recall that taking place. ALthough I will pass to your judgement that it did. I tend to think this is not what you may think it is. help us understand. and one final thought. THere is no "executive manual".
Message: Personally, I don't see how either one of you is getting any work done, with all the time you're both spending here. Maybe you guys should go to Blogspot and get your own blog. Or agree to meet at Goode Company at 7:30 and duke it out over ribs and beer.
