The Nexstar execs insist the ratings are stable, but there's no way that's true. KTAL, which was already a distant third, has been off the air on two of the major cable systems since the beginning of the year due to a dispute over retransmission fees. Advertisers are spending their money elsewhere. How desperate are they? They're without a weekend anchor, so they had "Anchor Rewind Weekends" during the May book, with former Shreveport TV folks anchoring the Saturday and Sunday shows. This past Sunday, with Julie Coker, was painful. No inflection, stumbling and awkward facial expressions. You have to wonder if they'll be doing news much longer.
