Date Posted: 06/01/2005 In Reply To: Are you suggesting that Woodward and Bernstein should have hounded this guy every year to make sure he didn't want to be revealed? They made a promise NOT to reveal his name until he died. It just so happened that Deep Throat wanted to come clean before he died. And the pieces just came together. Would you have been happier if W & B did it? I think there would be a controversy over it...people would think they pushed and prodded an old man to reveal his identity to sell some papers. The way it went down was fine by me. Message: it went down was fine. Just find it ironic that W & B didn't get to write this chapter of the story.
