In today's news conference, President Bush was critical of Amnesty International's report on our treatment of prisoners at Guantanemo Bay.
In his remarks he said that relying on the testimony of former prisoners was improper because "many of them have been trained to disassemble--that means not tell the truth."
I believe the word the president was searching for was "dissemble".
Whether you agree with his politics or not, I think all Americans want to perceive their president as being a sharp and intelligent guy.
Mr. Bush's inability to handle our language does little to enhance his stature among Americans.
As Rush Limbaugh used to say in one of his old radio commercials, "Let's face it. People judge you by the words you use."

That'll learn him, huh???
You know, for a guy whose every public utterance is part of our national history, I think President Bush does just fine. Of course Bill and Hillary lovers prefer the well-spoken "Clintonese."
Don't forget this gem from late October:
"Can I get me a hunting license here??"
-John Kerry, trying to connect with "average folk" during a staged goose-hunting excursion.
