I bet they are laughing at how the posts don't tell the complete truth...19 Action News is competitive. While they are not #1...They are growing.
The morning show ratings our growing. Within the past year the ratings are up more than 40 percent. It's still last place, but growing.
The noon show was very competitive with Channel 5...Second Place with less than a .2 difference.
While the early evening shows are still last place...They hold the lead ins from CBS soaps with Action News at 4-6 (and it's cheaper)
The news at 11 is a strong #2 right behind Channel 3. In fact 19 is up from last year.
Now let's be realistic. How many CBS affiliates after the big switch are #1?
IT TAKES TIME for a news organization (10 years ago without any news programming, without a focused direction, without the crew and resources dedicated to make change) to make a change.
All the critics say Action News isn't working...but it is, and the considerable growth since the inception of the Action News format proves it, whether you believe it or not...and people are watching. |

If you're blaming the "switch", you're in denial. That was 1994 !!!
The truth is, viewers never "tune in" to see Action News, if you don't have a lead-in, you don't draw at all.
If you do have a "lead-in", you can't hold it unless your anchor drops her pants.
So, what happens next? I'll tell you..all the money poured in to make this work, hasn't helped, so all of the veteran talent with big contracts should be nervous, because when those deals expire, they will be replaced with cheaper talent. That's a fact.
