Well, it's been a long time since anyone called jim rogers down to earth. He's your sterotypical essentric/crazy millionaire. He's never met a penny he couldn't pinch, which is probably exactly why he's successful.
Yes, there are some crazy rules. People have been fired (and will continue to be) for messy desks, eating in the newsroom, and other insane reasons.
That being said, the rank and file people are some of the best you'll ever work with. Managers leave a little be be desired. The ND is also quite essentric, so many either love her or hate her, it's rarely in between. She, and the entire management (or maybe it comes from on high and Rogers) suscribe to the gospel according to one consultant. So if your on air look (or show from a producer standpoint) doesn't conform with his, be prepaired to adapt, or fight. Divergent ideas are often shouted down. That's not necessarily a bad thing in the public eye, it's been working for years. The public knows what 3 puts out, and for they most part, they draw to it. They've been slipping lately, but had a solid may.
Simply put, if you fit the KVBC mold (and they fit yours) you'll have a blast. If you don't, you'll be miserable. Don't just blindly take the job. It's no better than any other station across the country. People aren't fighting to work there, find a place that fits for you |
