Advertisers buy demos, but households are good indicators of where the demos could go. Households go down, demos are likely to follow.
It's interesting to hear the argument about lead-ins when a station is down, but when it's doing well despite the lead-in, the argument is "branding". 13 has a "brand" that people want to watch, and nothing else matters. If branding's a legitimate argument (and I'm not saying that it is), then why aren't 13's 5pm and 6pm doing better than second? Wait, could it be... the lead-in? That would be the 4pm... which won! Yes, I know Oprah gave a great lead-in to ch 11, but she's always done that. Check the history.
So, no matter how you slice it, the problem is in the fundamentals... the shows in question need help --- not a producer shuffle. A management realignment is a start. |

Oprah gives KHOU at 9 point lead in. Even my station wins with a 9 point lead in!
Sure KTRK wins the enws race at 4pm but it is half the number of oprah yet they still, by my count, come within a point of beating khou at 5pm. And less than that at 6pm.
Oh, and you are correct it is the demos that count. That's why KTRK is a consistant winner in the demos. ITs also why my station consistantly beats KHOU as well.
Killer, apparently you have some serious issues with ktrk management that is blinding your judgement. tell us what happened? were you passed up for a promotion? Overtime cut? what's the reason why you are a mutineer? Most of your collegues i have talked with a few beefs but the same stuff as any other TV station in america..
come on, spill the beans, why are you with the mighty 13?
