This is a cut-throat business, and if people want to compromise their careers by having kids, then by all means...
Anyhow, we all know news is just something to do for many women before they marry well and then leave the business to become a 'stay-at-home-mom." |

...for snap -- who the h!@* do you think takes up the slack when YOU call in sick (to go on a job interview, be with friends/boyfriend/girlfriend or just take a day you couldn't get off as a vacation day)? Someone else is there picking up the slack for YOU. But you sure don't see it that way. Narcissistic twit!
And littlenewslady, while it may be your plan to "play" at tv until you marry your rich prince charming and go off to "play" mommy at home -- not all of us are like that. I met my husband BEFORE I began my career in television. I worked up to the day I delivered both my kids (and no, I never put their health or mine at risk). And the sick day I'm taking tomorrow is for my HUSBAND'S knee surgery -- not a sick kid. In fact, when my kids are sick, my husband and I split a day off so we both get work in. Funny how on those half days I'm STILL expected to turn a pkg, anchor and do all my regular stuff. Do I complain to those at work? Hell NO!
For those of you who work with such self-centered people, I feel truly sorry for you. BTW, those people would be that way with or WITHOUT kids. Their kids have just become their handy excuse.
Oh, and I've gotten that call before to come in and report/anchor whatever because the single/non-parent co-worker couldn't remember they were on-call. My suggestion, if you're not on-call, DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!
