1. if a parent calls in sick because their kid is sick, IT IS NOT AN ABUSE OF SICK DAYS! Who else is going to take your damn kid to the doctor?
2. if you actually get read the riot act for calling in sick, you must have abused it in the past. otherwise, no one gives you shit about it.
3. a parent's time is not always more valuable than yours. but...kids can't fend for themselves, and sometimes the parent just HAS TO BE THERE. you can't compare that to picking up a friend at the airport, or feeding your cat/dog, etc. MOST OF THE TIME, WHAT THE PARENT HAS TO DO IS UNAVOIDABLE. of course it can be abused, but these people are in the minority.
By the way, i'm aware of all of this, AND I DON'T HAVE KIDS! Get you head out of your ass and stop whining and sounding ignorant. |

This is a cut-throat business, and if people want to compromise their careers by having kids, then by all means...
Anyhow, we all know news is just something to do for many women before they marry well and then leave the business to become a 'stay-at-home-mom."
