I work with plenty of childless people who also come in late/leave early because of social events, car repairs, classes, appointments, taking care of a sick parent, etc. Does it matter how we use our personal time, as long as it's coming off the books AND it's not abused?
What I have a problem with are my co-workers who put in a NOT so productive day because they're hung over, taking smoke breaks, or talking on the phone/computer because they're making plans for the evening...or better yet, PLANNING THEIR WEDDING!!!!
We probably all have something to complain about....whether we're parents or not. You're right - home is home, and work is work, but it makes for a very sterile environment. |

I have to agree with waterice. People have a variety of priorities. Don't hate people with children because that's their choice. I have no children and I like the fact that my co-workers strike a balance between work and home. In studies it has been shown that women WITH children tend to be more productive at work because they have to manage time more efficiently. So to all the family haters, put your all into your work but when you are old and sick, I doubt it will be there for you.
