I'm the first to say their numbers are solid. Take nothing away from their efforts. I'm just interested to see what kind of bounce (if any) they will get from Idol.
I'd have to check the ratings but I'm pretty sure the Olympics never delivered a 30 rating the news door step at 9 PM...with a Tulsan winning every event! (Apples and Oranges)
KOTV appears to be hitting a higher gear. Trav starts this week, any predictions on the 10 PM number on his debut? |

Don't forget, KOKI beat KOTV in some of the demos in Feb, and beat KJRH soundly in every demo-before Carrie Underwood kicked in. This book will jack those numbers even higher. The Olympics did not deliver a 30 rating, but rather a nice solid 20 or so...day after day after day. On none of those days did KJRH crack a 10 rating. On none of those days in KJRH beat either KOTV or KTUL. They had the audience and couldn't keep it. I am just making the point that the product has to be good to hold big lead ins...it is not a given. Remember when NBC was a powerhouse? KJRH still was last.
I predict an 18 rating for KOTV with Travis debut, and I predict no long term impact. KOTV numbers simply cannot go much higher, and not all KOTV viewers like Travis...he could alienate some of them. Unfortunately nobody else at 10 can be taken seriously in weather...so your choice it Travis or nothing.
