Message: If you are offered a job at KVBC, do it! It's truly a great place to work. Great chemistry in the newsroom, best reporters in town, excellent anchors, and the photogs are award winning despite what others on this board might want you to believe. Hell, one of them got his own weather channel special for the work he did during epic flooding. Yes, there are a few rules that go along with working in the same building in the owner, but they are not unreasonable. Basically if you can walk 30 seconds to a break room to eat, and know how to clean up after yourself, you're good. It actually creates for a more pleasant working environment without hours old smelly food everywhere. He is not involved in the day to day newsroom operations. He has enough on his plate managing a media empire and working at the state university system chancellor. As far as what they might be looking for: if your tape is good they should give you a call. If you can write well and do more than stand stationary during a live shot, that's half the battle. Keep the viewer interested, explain why they should care, include a little perspective and be a great story teller. It's not rocket science. You know what's good when you see it.
