In Reply To: The only day Idol led in was the last day. It's hard to say you need to minus certain days to get accurate picture. If you took Thursday away from KOTV, it's a much closer race at 10. The Idol nights off set the Thursday and Friday nights where FOX delivers litterally nothing, but news still gets 5.0+ more often than not for the hour. Time will tell, but each book gets bigger and bigger for FOX23. I'm a converted skeptic.
Message: Let's give credit where credit is due: KOKI had an incredible book. Even considering Idol-people won't watch crap. OKC FOX25 wound up with a 4.7 for the book (compared to 8.7 for KOKI-and they've been around twice as long), and they also could sell "a local" Idol contestant. But their news is crap, and they can't get people to watch. Night after night this book, KOKI fired off 10's in the ratings...Idol or not, that's very impressive. Remember during the most recent Olympics...when giant numbers were delivered to KJRH's front door, only for people to flee away once the news open rolled. KOKI's next step is building serious loyalty...where regardless of the lead-in, people tune-in to watch. The kind of loyalty KOTV and KTUL have built up over the years. That said, KJRH had a solid book too...showing serious growth for the first time in years. They did get beat for the first time by KOKI at 5 (Idol doesn't impact that). KOTV was simply dominant...crushing KTUL in every newscast. KTUL is the clear loser, in a book of winners in Tulsa.
