I work in a station in a top 50 market where people get promoted from our sister station that would be considered market 200 if it were its own market. So hearing about this is nothing new to me. I have mixed emotions about people making such a big jump in this business--more times than not it doesn't work out because the people are not seasoned enough and emotionally ready to work around people with much more savvy and smarts in bigger markets. Not to sound negative, but let's face it...but the reality is in this day and age if you're a minority and have the talent, you can pretty much write your own ticket. |

I would rather work with an eager, compassionate and hardworking kid than an experienced crumudgeon. Sometimes experience equals ego, and who wants to work with someone like that? At least the green ones don't have any bad habits. This job isn't exactly astrophysics people. It's simple and it's supposed to be simple. Doesn't take too long to figure it out. If you have a brain, some balls and a little bit of presence, you can make it anywhere in no time.
