Sounds like a bunch of ignorant photogs are online today. Pay at the Austin cable shop is equivalent to other stations in town. Check the roster at your affiliate, and you'll see lots of green..(Not cash, experience.) You need to wake up and realize, like it or not, this is what local news is becoming. Do your homework and look at the numbers! An affiliate station in San Fran is now one man band; Belo in SA is hiring one man bands. What are you going to do when managers wake up and realize you're not worth what you think you are? |

one man bands in Austin get about 24 or 25K a year. Affiliate reporters make at least 10K more. That's a fact.
Name any network affiliate in Austin that does one man bands. They don't. Maybe a few larger stations are experimenting with it, but the trend won't last. The product suffers greatly.
