In Reply To: OK, you've lured me into the Fox/Monsanto debate. I'm still wondering what actual scientific FACT you had to back-up the assertions in your report. We all shook our collective head about your effort at IRE some years back when the story fell apart. And don't throw the original jury verdict in anyone's face. Jurors are often wrong in their decisions, both in fact and law. The appellate process worked in this case.
Message: So you missed the facts, yet manage to come up with an opinion anyway? How professional for a journalist. I know you like to keep your identity secret but, pray tell, which news organization, if any, has the benefit of your approach to making judgments about news? We could debate this Bovine Growth Hormone issue forever and only clutter the board. But lest you think the unanimous jury verdict (after FIVE weeks of hearing testimony and seeing evidence) was flawed, I'll limit the recitation of facts to just one: Fox insisted we report Monsanto's claim that the milk you pour on your children's cereal each morning is "the same safe, wholesome product it's always been," despite the fact the milk has actually been adulterated with the effects of hormone injections into the cow. How do we know this? Monsanto's OWN studies show the milk from hormone-inject cows is different. It is precisely that difference that has caused virtually every industrialized nation in the world (save the bought-and-paid-for FDA approval here in the USA) to forbid the sale of milk from injected cows. I hope this clears up your lack of understanding about the story and the lawsuit. If you need more details, check out www.foxBGHsuit.com or write me off-board. As for the appellate process "working" in this case? If you think the First Amendment should EVER be used by ANY broadcaster as a license to lie to people through their own public airwaves, you need to look for another line of work, IMHO.
