Message: Reading about the passing of Eddie Albert ("Green Acres"), I note that he served in WWII and saved many lives in the Tarawa campaign. Here's my question. If Albert was 99-years-old at death, he'd have been born in 1906. He would have been almost 36 by the start of the war. Would they allow someone so "old" to enlist? (Old being that until recently the maximum recruitment age was 31). Actors Glenn Ford, Lee Marvin, and Bob Keeshan all served with distinction, but would be about 10-20 years younger than Albert. I know there was a war on, a big one, and we needed all the people we could get, but isn't that a little old to try to mold someone? I coudln't have done that in my 30s, but I could in my 20s.
