I work in a station in a top 50 market where people get promoted from our sister station that would be considered market 200 if it were its own market. So hearing about this is nothing new to me. I have mixed emotions about people making such a big jump in this business--more times than not it doesn't work out because the people are not seasoned enough and emotionally ready to work around people with much more savvy and smarts in bigger markets. Not to sound negative, but let's face it...but the reality is in this day and age if you're a minority and have the talent, you can pretty much write your own ticket. |

Be reminded plenty of people leap from small to large markets and thrive. But I draw your attention to the phrase "... if you're a minority and have the talent..." as if talent was ever required of every white person in a major market. It is also wrong for you to assume minorities possess the power to "write their own ticket." Your message indicates you have issues with matters of race and ethnicity as well as inexperience. Solidpro, indeed.
