be a great career move.. say you spend a couple of years seeing the inside of how they operate..then come back to the states with that on your resume..you just MIGHT find yourself considered an arab and islamic expert that a LOT of people would want to hire for your knowledge of what most consider the "other side", if not the "enemy"..it might well be like some people who've left the business to run for, and win, political office..then come back to news..there are a few of them..and their knowledge of how government REALLY works from the inside is VERY valuable..i'd think about it, if i were young, single, and had the opportunity.. |

Of course its a mouthpiece. But so are the American networks. Nothing comes out of the MiddleEast that we see, that does not get gov't approval. There has been at least one VOA (shortwave) director booted out the door by the State Dept. for airing material that was not approved. He is now considered a martyr as he was trying bring the service into a more credible news organization.
