Topic Name: WNEG Northeast Georgia Message Name: I don't think so! Date Posted: 05/28/2005 In Reply To: Anyone know why there are so many jobs open now at WNEG-TV? Message: I haven't really kept up with the station but I knew the engineer who put it on the air in the 80s. At that time the owner was trying to get ABC but ended up as an indie. After a while it became a satellite of WSPA (CBS)I believe. It may be that the market has grown enough so that it can now be profitable as a real TV station. Its a U (32) and in hilly terrain and in a small market that is adjacent to the Atlanta market. It could be that with all the problems at the CBS affiliate in Atlanta the owners are trying to cash in. The suburban Atlanta market has become more affluent due to white flight etc. I'd check it out. Good Luck!
