ESPN always takes newspaper writers and turns them into on air reporters: Mort, Sal Pal, Ed, Stephen A...Rachel was a sports writer for the Washington Post and a pretty good one.
No offense, but if you can get a female sports writer who has a true sports knowledge you take a chance.
And she is Diane Sawyer's step daughter...film director Mike Nichols is her father.
ESPN is making her the face of the network right now, she is always on. My guess is she will be getting better too.

her maiden name is Alexander, which she used at the Post. She's married to Mike's son ... which still makes her Diane Sawyer's daughter-in-law, but just an in-law to Mr. Director too.
