I heard she's Dianne Sawyer's daughter-in-law. Dianne works for ABC. ABC is owned by Disney. Disney owns ESPN.
And lets be honest, all sports writers are jealous of TV guys. The successful ones (Kornheiser, Wilbon, Albom) get TV jobs.
Rachel's mother-in-law got her the break she needed. |

I think Nichols does a pretty good job, though she's kinda deer-in-headlights at this stage.
Snooty Patooty Sawyer got Nichols the gig, huh? I thought Sawyer was still rudely grilling Secretary Powell over "appropriate" levels of American tsunami relief.
I wouldn't include Mitch Albom in a list of great sportswriters. You really think the recent scandal was the first time he fudged a column/story??? C'mon....
Funny recent Linda Cohn moment: They showed some dope in a boat reeling-in a tournament-winning fish. He was screaming in a Harry-met-Sally manner, so Cohn says,(approximate quote) "I've got to take up fishing." Great line.
Nichols will only get better.
Hopefully Sawyer isn't in her ear with "fake sincerity" tips.
