He's a good reporter with great presence. If he's younger and has got the skills, don't knock him... don't hate. If this was his second job, I could see that... but he's worked his butt off and it couldn't happen to a more deserving person.

it sounds like the guy's pretty qualified. (just going by what info you have in your post)he's worked in a few markets--plus he's a native of the area. i don't see anything wrong with that.
you have to admit, sometimes we take ourselves too seriously. how much "working in the trenches" do you really need to be an anchor or reporter? it's really not rocket science.
