thoughts on how the hell this could happen? I guess paying your dues and working your way up happens a lot quicker these days - if you're a native.
Chicago Native Returns To NBC5 As Reporter

CHICAGO -- Alexander Perez will be joining NBC 5 News as a general assignment reporter, effective July 5.
Alex comes to NBC5 from KVIA-TV, the ABC affiliate in El Paso, Texas. He has been a reporter there for the last two years.
Prior to that, Alex worked in Alpena, Michigan. He also worked at WPGU-FM in Champaign, Ill., and WICD-TV, also in Champaign..
Alex is a native of Chicago, and grew up in Cicero. He holds a B.S. Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. |

... and I'm not just saying that because he's my friend.
He's a good reporter with great presence. If he's younger and has got the skills, don't knock him... don't hate. If this was his second job, I could see that... but he's worked his butt off and it couldn't happen to a more deserving person.
