exactly right. the more people tell you that you are too thin the hungrier you are to be thin.
because it's your identity. it's the thing you can control (even though the reality of it is that you are out of control).
for those who don't understand, imagine if people paid attention to you because you have this fabulous long hair. Pretty hard to cut it, right? or because you work in tv. pretty hard to think about working at a bank, because that high profile job is your identity.
sure it takes a specific personality to fall victim to this mindset but for those who suffer from it, it's a tough mindset to break. And in fact, in the case of anorexia, it becomes a physical issue as well. |
