...who think it's chaos dealing with all the changes at newstime -- don't you think anchors have those same changes going on? Hello, we're the ones who have to actually deliver the content.
I feel sorry for those of you who have to work with anchors who don't put on their mics, don't turn them on or even worse, the bimbo who takes it off. Sorry, but that's just plain STUPID!
Personally, I take responsibility for myself. That means the first thing I do when I get on set is PUT ON MY MIC AND MY IFB. Funny, though, how one of our audio ops complained to management that anchors weren't in place early enough to get mic checks. So mgmt made rules saying we had to be on set by a certain time. Now we're there but the audio op is never ready to get the mic check until :30 before headlines.
And some of them rarely bother to get a new mic check if we have to change mics during a cast. Floor or anchors usually have to request it. That's just how it is in our shop. |

sometimes only will have time to get a ambient mic check because of chaos in the control room. that isn't exactly what the director wants all the time but in a time of chaos it'll work as long as sound is heard. it is ultimatley up to the talent to make sure to put THEIR mic on. i've seen an anchor do the same thing and guess what...he took the blame for it. too bad not everyone, talent and people behind the scenes, arent like that.
