In Reply To: There are quite a few people alive today who would have perished in the tower collapses on 9-11 had they not been late to work that day. "On time" is often not what it seems clock watchers. If you're late you might be right on time.
Message: on time within 5 minutes give or take depending on traffic...and i'm usually the one that show up first! there are times when i end up staying until my shift is over then there are times i'm told i can leave since theres nothing for me to do and theres enough people to cover. if you want the perks of being able to leave early, make sure to show up ont time or at least before everyone else does. yes it gets noticed and if you're not a complainer like me management sees that and sees what kind of worker i am. thats why when i'm sitting around with nothing to do i ask everyone if they need help and when they all say no it's not long before i get sent home. the thing is, i still get paid for a full shift. they just would rather see me gone than sitting around staring at a wall talking to everyone while they work. i say try to show up ontime. within 5-10 minutes is reasonable as long as its not habitual. but just like someone posted here, you show up five minutes late but how many times have you stayed late for a live shot. if i show up 5 minutes late its not going to hurt the newscast. when the anchor shows up 10 minutes before showtime then thats a problem.
