I didn't have a chance to watch each of the stations 5pm newscast in Beaumont but I did watch KFDM at Five and there Five o'clock show was just one big infomercial, I could not believe it. They toured the entire facility during the show and totally forsaked news for a commercial for L'Auberge du Lac. Did anyone else in the Beaumont area see it. Or would care to comment on the other stations coverage of the new casino. I did see KBTV morning show this morning and I thought they were a little heavy with L'Auberge du Lac coverage but no where near the informercial coverage provided by KFDM. |

I agree it's a big deal, but this is overkill. In addition to the Live at Five infomercial, KFDM promises two live reporters at 6 and 10 and Dan Gresham live all morning tomorrow. Aren't there some murders to cover in Port Arthur? I can understand KBTV's obsession, to a degree. The morning anchor is friends with the casino's PR lady, who was his news director at the dearly departed KVHP ... but it appears they still showed some restraint when compared with the mighty KFDM. Even KPLC, the only TV station in Lake Charles that does news, is doing less coverage than the Beaumont stations. The new casino wasn't even the lead story on their precious Web site tonight!
