The collapse was at WJZ not WBAL - and it really wasn't a collapse. It was more like a little air leaking out of a balloon ready to pop cuz it's so inflated by BS |

If the EP was indispensable, WBAL should have tumbled. The truth is WBAL overcame HORRIBLE NBC programming and won a narrow victory over WJZ.
Other variables were not constant. Last May, NBC provided better lead-ins (NBC prime down 13%). And yet, WBAL was flat in late news, May to May.
Did the EP bring something to the table? I would say yes, but look at the data. WBAL performed the same with 13% less audience lead-in. Based on this statistic (and with Hercules as a lead-in), WBAL actually performed BETTER this May than last.
The facts don't support (laserprinter's) assertion that the dear departed EP was the key to WBAL's success.
No need to feel stupid, WBAL. Congrats on a "Herculean" effort... and a narrow, but satisfying win!
