In Reply To: I work at a station that has a "serious" morning format. No time for smiles and lightness. The bosses say that this is what people want judging by research. Anway, Thanks Truthteller. You completely understood where I was coming from. I don't consider those of us on the team to be unprofessional...just human. And I want to prepare myself as best as possible from a moment that could potentially harm my credibility and career. Focusing on that "tunnel vision" gives me something to really consider when that next "unpredictable funny moment" happens. The floor director is not a clumsy guy...but it HAS happened in the past. It was just an example.
Message: don't know where you are, or what "research" they're using..but people don't "watch" morning shows anymore.. they listen to them while getting themselves and the kids ready for the day..the best format for a morning show is like a morning drive radio program with some pictures thrown in..if you're being, or are afraid of being, penalized for having a normal human reaction to something that's actually funny, i don't think your remaining time there is gonna be a whole hell of a lot of fun..
