In Reply To: The sad truth is that unless your shops management is comprised entirely of imbeciles (not impossible), someone is watching and noticing that you're getting iced out of the cast's juiciest moments, and quite simply they don't seem to care. If they thought you had a good rapport with the audience, they'd be all over that producer like white on rice telling her to assign reads more equitably or get ready for the unemployment line, especially during a book. If I were you, that's what I'd be most concerned about.
Message: ...newmgmt. I've worked with too many ND's who NEVER watched the morning show. Their focus was the 10 p.m. and that's it. The only reason they knew we HAD a morning show was that those anchors left mid-day. (okay, rant against management is over -- and for the record, our current guy watches the a.m. show regularly) tvjournalistgal -- any non-professional relationship in the newsroom affects the show, morale and more. I agree with talking to an EP -- sit and watch the show with them. You could use this as a time to not only get feedback on what YOU'RE doing, but also talk about the show, how it's stacked, etc. If you're wanting to make a tape, you could use the session to improve your performance. I don't know how early you come in in the morning. If you're in early enough, you could ask for read changes. If it's too close to the cast, the producer isn't going to want to change reads. Nothing is going to change until you speak up, one way or another. Right now, they probably just think you don't care. Let them know, kindly but FIRMLY that you do, and it does matter to you.
