1. Ted NEVER tried to make CNN ready for sale (you might be confusing his decision to sell turner broadcasting to Time Warner. CNN was a tiny part of Turner and after the sale, Ted continued to try to get Time Warner to BUY a network to combine with CNN.

they simply were NEVER a major part of anythiing that happened at CNN in the Ted years.

Guess how long Reese was at CNN. About a year.
He is very bitter about his dismissal by Ted and gets a lot of that out in the book with some truths, some half truths, some misleading bits.
