Does anyone know of any comparable stories in tv news about reporters accidentally dropping a profanity? What has happened to those reporters? Were they fired? |

Know of a couple of people who've done that accidently, thinking they were cleared and off-air and no one was ever fired.
One in particular was in a top-20 and jumped to top-5 a year or two after the incident. He wasn't fired, but felt bad about the whole thing because he'd thought he was off-air at the time. Was at the end of his shot and something had gone wrong with his feed or tape. Can't remember exactly.
It's an accident. No reporter (or anchor) says something like that deliberately. Management should consider that. But if they were looking for an excuse to get rid of a reporter, they'd probably jump on something like this to kick them out the door.
