are you wanting to become a producer? if so, you're taking the right steps.
if you wish to report, then get away from the computer and start putting together a tape.
it's nice to hear about an intern who does more than just answer phones, go to the morning meetings, and look on the internet. every intern i've seen has to run their mouth and act like big shot, but are too timid to ask for advice.

There is a process a producer must go through to put together a show.
Imagine you had to put together that show, what would you lead with? Try to find out what the people in the field are saying about their stories. What are the best pictures of the day? Who should be live? What happens when a story falls through? Or when news breaks after you've finished the rundown? Or if you are ten minutes heavy --or light!??
You should learn a lot.
