"NEWS CH. 2 CAN'T A-F-FORD
CBS/Ch. 2 reporter Arthur Chi'en was fired yesterday after he used the f-word on-air during a 6 a.m. broadcast. Chi'en was standing in front of a subway station delivering a live intro to a segment about a MetroCard scam when two men walked up behind him, held up a sign and began chanting, "Opie & Anthony" ?? the names of the XM satellite radio shock jocks. Chi'en, thinking he'd finished the live part of the report, whirled around and blurted out to the interlopers, "What the [bleep] is your problem, man?" Unfortunately for Chi'en, the camera was still rolling and the expletive rang out loud and clear over the airwaves. "I can confirm that he has been terminated," a Ch. 2 spokeswoman told PAGE SIX. "We have no further comment regarding his termination." The network-owned station also issued this statement: "WCBS-TV apologizes for the use of inappropriate language today during our 6 a.m. broadcast. We deeply regret the incident." "
Is the tape posted anywhere online?
By the way, this is sad, IMO. I've always thought Chi'en was one of the better local reporters in NYC. |
