Interesting that the person who admits to judging Dan based on one comment at his FIRST KOIN staff meeting, goes on to whine about being pre-judged by Dan. Focusing on the 11 pm is a proven strategy to take advantage of prime-time audience gains by CBS. The CBS evening news on the other hand is not helping its lead-in or out right now.

Hardy har har.
First of all, there aren't many "entrenched" people left at KOIN. They've downsized so much over the last few years you wouldn't recognize the joint.
Secondly, with the "Medford" crack he made right off the bat he alienated, or pissed off, a lot of people. And don't give me that tough love crap, he insulted the whole news staff.
Thirdly, the brain trust he put right under him, well let's just say they leave a little to be desired in the charisma department. One guy has worked every newsroom in the country, and some out, and isn't afraid to tell you every chance he gets. Another is a sloppy writing weenie who pins blame for everything, you guessed it, on someone else. Another is the sickeningly sweet fake friendly all the time that makes you want to puke.
I could go on, as could anyone in the newsroom, but why. Jeff Smulyan knows what he's doing....right?
