In Reply To: Personal attacks are a sign of someone who cannot form a proper argument. Robin Mejia produced this program for CNN. On HER OWN website is this: "Funding for this investigation was provided in part by a 2003 Soros Justice Media Fellowship awarded to Robin Mejia by the Open Society Institute, and by a grant to CIR from the Ford Foundation and CIR's Investigative Venture Fund." Unsolved crimes are relevant because that is the real effect of underfunded crime labs. Soros-- and the program in question try to draw the conclusion that an overwhelming amount of innocent people are jailed because of problems with crime labs. The truth is that there are very few people that end up wrongly incarcerated. On the flip-side, an overwhelming number of violent criminals are ending up serving very little or no time in jail. This isn't even mentioned! Also, the innocence project is a one-sided, one-argument organization designed to keep the flow of money going to defense attornies. They are by no means objective. The jury is still out on cnn.
Message: Could you by any chance EVER imagine CNN running a whole documentary based on an investigation by... oh... the Heritage Foundation? "A conservative, right-wing study by the conservative right-wing Heritage Foundation reached this conservative, right wing conclusion..." blah blah blah. Perhaps something from the Center For Consumer Freedom? "The conservative, pro-business, restaurant industry funded Center For Consumer Freedom made this conservative, pro-business, statement..." etc etc etc. But Soros and his gang get a pass. Was the research legit? Maybe. But a little context is in order and, again CNN has failed to provide it Again, nobody anywhere in the editorial process saw fit to point out that a party in this story is a partisan with an agenda. And again, it was someone coming in from out of left field who got the free ride. That says more than any couching or attribution would have. They've learned nothing. From Tailwind, to Memogate, nothing. Partisan propaganda is the number one priority. Actual journalism is two, maybe three... four?
