Actually, Dan is the best news director I ever worked with. He knows a good story when you present it. He let me pursue investigative stories even in the face of people in our own newsroom who didn't want to rock the boat. The result was a service to the community and higher ratings. No one is perfect. But if there were more ND's like Dan local news wouldn't be in as much trouble as it is.

I'll have for the new owner, or GM or ND -- The first person who comes in here and really wants to win. My suggestion will be to steal some of the management team from KGW. We're not going to get the ND but the Asst ND used to work at KOIN and the EP has big market experience and really knows how to put on a good newscast. Both have been there for a long time and helped make KGW what it is today. It will take a good day-to-day management team to turns things around at KOIN -- not just another ND who wants to fire talent and change slogans.
