I have visited the Portland area enough times and worked in three different top 30 markets to say this. For the size market it is, Portland television news isn't very good. It's dull, it's sleepy and with a few exceptions, the talent is average. KOIN was the hardest to watch that's for sure. |

there is nothing wrong with being a sleepy town, which portland is.
But the point was/is,,,its harder to catch a leading station when you have very few compelling moments.
yes, they all play on the same turf--but again, the point is--anyone coming to KOIN has to play 'catch up'
and thats a tough job in a newstown..with no news.
