Look,despite what stuckinhell says....
If you're at the level of the business where you're looking at going to Oak Hill, you're obviously in the Newbie stage. What choice to you have but to go for it?
Yes, it's a SMALL market. Yes it has old cameras, no live capabilities, crappy salaries, etc etc, etc
But.. WV is unbelievably beautiful, and has lots of CHEAP recreation in that respect.
The new ND is a long, long-time veteran who has old-school Big J values and a good heart.
You're not going there to retire.
It will get you to medium market tv
PS: The best reporters are ones who sponge all they can about their communities and have a sense of them. if you're going to take the attitude that you're "stuck in hell", you'll feel like that in Oak Hill...and then in the next market, and the next, and the next. Trust me.
PPS: I started there and now am a major-market news manager. The best tapes that arrive on my desk are the ones from people who paid their dues at places like that.
