What is it that people see in any of these folks? I've only watched Idol sporadically and always I'm reminded of bad high schoool talent shows when I do.
I don't get Bo Bice, he's decent enough singer, but all the accolades and talk about his "good looks" I don't get.
He looks like any other guy hanging out in Honky Tonks across the South. I'm as baffled about that as I am for girls swooning over Justin Guarini, Corey Clark, and that Marine when they were on there---they're average looking at best people!!!
When I watch this show I feel like P. Diddy and his attitude toward this season's Making The Band:...IS THIS REALLY THE BEST TALENT AMERICA HAS TO OFFER???? IT CAN'T BE?!!!-- or we have truly declined as a civilization.
I wouldn't buy any of these folks albums nor did I buy any of the previous Idol albums. Although I admit debating their merits and in the women's cases looks or weight...doesn't matter much because they will all get "redone" once they get in the real biz. But I can't help thinking if Aretha Franklin, Janice Joplin or Mick Jagger, or would have made it past the first round since none are great looking, one has always been "full figured" and they all actually had superior talents that in one way or another cannot be duplicated. |

Do you actually believe what you wrote? You mean when you watch AI, you believe these young people are average? 10,000 auditions, narrowed down to 30 or so, narrowed down to 12 and then the battle for the final 2? These kids have sung their hearts out. Watching Vonzel emotionally crack under the pressure was incredibly moving. Carrie already looks and sounds like a country music star. I'm not a huge Bo fan but when he sang accapella it was not only utsy, but perfect as well. That is not easily accomplished. Furthermore, they do it live in front of MILLIONS of people, holding themselves up to public scrutiny like we are seeing here. I'd like to see you try it. You'd probably pass out from fright before your ass even hit the stage. So back off, Rambo.
