I found an interview this "chief" gave NPR about re-opening the cases.
This guy sounds like an idiot. He never really states why he feels Williams is innocent, though I know he doesn't think it holds up on the science.
He says he'll devote five detectives to the case. Will he do that for some low profile case where someome says they were convicet on shoddy evidence? |

Dekalb County Police Chief, Louis Graham, is no idiot! The man has a long, distinguished record of police work. He was the former Assistant, then Chief of the Fulton County Police Department. He is widely regarded by his peers as a top flite homicide detective.
Graham admits to not having any new evidence at this time. However, DNA testing of blood samples is in the works. In addition, there is plenty of new, exculpatory evidence that the jury never heard and that Atlanta's "cheerleading" media has never reported on. Graham is motivated by his long held believe (he was an original member of the police task force) that Wayne Williams was railroaded and is innocent of killing anyone. He also feels a deep debt to the parents of the victims. Nearly to a person, the parents have never believed that Wayne Williams hurt their children, let alone killed them. The parents also believe that Williams is a political prisoner. The parents beg for closure. Graham wants to help bring it to them.
