WEAR is a Sinclair station. And Sinclair, as you may know, has a bit of a reputation.

I've been out of the Mobile market for several years, so my "shop talk" is a little out-dated. I will say WKRG was the station with all the toys when I was there -- more live trucks, the only sat truck & a helicopter. WALA was the station with the content -- the station that really covered what was important to people who cared about the community. Not the flashiest, but the most solid. It's common for FOX affiliates not to go head to head with the competition. Plus -- they have a brand new newsroom in a brand new building. WPMI is the go-getter... non-stop aggression. The anchors they've stolen from WKRG really give them credibility. And as for Mobile being nicer than Pensacola... depends on what you're after. If you like history, culture, a great downtown party scene, and want to be in the city that started Mardi Gras -- Mobile's your place. Pensacola, on the other hand, may be closer to the beach, but overall, it's boring and is a "sausage factory" when it comes to Navy guys. If that's your thing... go for it. If you can't decide... go with your favorite station and live in Baldwin County. It's between Mobile & Pensacola, is one of the fastest growing counties in Alabama and is very "clean" if that's what matters to you.
