The story is out of Denver? So what? I didn't see the CBS News version, so I can't comment on it. 12's version of the story was based entirely on the word of a 17 year-old kid. Shouldn't he be learning how to relate to members of the opposite sex or something, rather than thinking he's going to take down Uncle Sam?? The kid told the recruiter he's a drug user? Throw the book at him. That'll "learn" him, huh??
The problem with 12's story, in my opinion, was its one-sidedness. That brings the news director into the fray.
How could he/she allow the piece to air in that form? Who hired the news director? Does he/she watch the newscast? Why would 12 choose to air such a biased, anti-military report in Arizona, which is chock full of President Bush supporters, and the home state of John McClain. That's just dumb beyond belief, in my opinion. Anger/irritate the audience with "60-Minutes Wednesday" journalism.
That takes courage. |

I find the story about the 17 year old kid quite interesting. Obviously, it's true since the Army took immediate action, suspending its recruiting process (although they were in my local mall office today). Even more surprising, the Army did NOT deny the story. In fact, the CNN version had a spokesman saying that they had "some" abuse in the recruiting process during the past 12 months.
Thank goodness someone is challenging King Bush -- even if it has to be a 17 year old! Go back to listening to Faux News, where they espouse your opinions ALL the time. Boy was Orwell right -- he was just 20 years early!
