You basically help the producers and learn the ropes. Its a lot of writng and research but specific duties depend on the shop. Some stations get their APs up to par and in a pinch rely on them to run shows. I'm looking to get my foot in the door a an AP though more likely as a PA. From what I've personally heard there is a lot of room for growth if you are heading on the producing track, work hard and are any good.
Does anyone have any suggestions for starting shops in producing on the east coast? I live in the Hartford market and been told its not even an AP starter market. I have lot of experience with a college station and have a current show to show if necessary. While on the topic of AP I though I'd ask. Thanks for any help! |

I started out as an AP in Hartford, left because management cut hours and 1 year later I began producing in top 50.
It's awful tough to get in the door, but the last poster is right. Work your ass of and take initiative and you'll shine.
